Everyone’s favorite recalcitrant Scottish blogger, programmer and whisky drinker Matt “Legend” Gemmel has made available these fantastic iPhone 5 wallpapers, ready for your retro-tendo reminiscences.
Matt made the set of five tall-papers (what I somewhat annoyingly just decided to call the iPhone 5’s tall wallpapers) to commemorate his new-found love of Nintendo gaming on the Mac.
If you’re like me, you’re always on the hunt for gorgeous wallpapers to lovingly bestow upon your shiny gadgets. Merek Davis has curated a fantastic selection of wallpapers by designer Kyle Gray, and you can download them all in Apple-friendly resolutions from his website.
I love this collection of stuff because it’s all wonderfully minimal. Loud and busy wallpapers are distracting, but these are simple enough to fade into the foreground of your display. Really nice.
The iPad mini is rather perfectly sized for an e-reader: light, easy to hold, super thin. What better way to show off your reading street cred with a set of luxuriously tasty book-themed images? They’re perfectly sized for the iPad mini, with higher resolution options for its larger, more Retina-enabled bigger brothers, too.
Desktop pictures, or wallpaper, are one way to make your Mac truly your own. Choosing from one of the beautifully rendered images that are provided along with OS X is one way to be sure to impress any passers-by, as well and give you something beautiful to look at as you go about your daily Mac business.
Now, however, Mountain Lion lets you easily use any of your own images from iPhoto (or Aperture) as a Desktop Picture, right within the Desktop & Screensaver preference pane. Here’s how.
IMore’s Apple supremo Rene Ritchie has rustled up this rather stunning wallpaper featuring the artwork for Apple’s just-announced iPad mini event. And not only is it rendered text-free for distraction-free backdropping purposes, but it’s retina-ized for your hi-res iPad pleasure.

Your iPhone 5 is gorgeous and thin and you love the hell out of it, right? Check ’em out.
OS X Mountain Lion comes with 35 great wallpapers pre-installed, but what if that’s not enough to satisfy your computer’s cravings for more cosmic landscapes and jaw-dropping scenery straight out of National Geographics? Some of use need more. Like, at least 43 more.
Apple actually includes 43 incredible wallpapers with a 3200×2000 resolution that are hidden inside OS X Mountain Lion. They include stuff like scenery from National Geographics, nature patterns, and cosmic photos from the Hubble telescope. Finding the wallpapers and unlocking them is actually really easy too, here’s how to do it:
Breathe new life into your iPhone's home screen by adding a scrollable wallpaper.
It took Apple a long, long time to bring customizable wallpapers to the iPhone, so who knows when — or indeed if — the Cupertino company will make them scrollable. But rather than waiting, why not install the WS Wallpaper tweak on your jailbroken device and add scrollable wallpapers yourself?
Guys. Gals. We totally just landed on Mars. Again! Ok, that news is almost two weeks old, but my chest is still pumping with adrenaline after watching those NASA nerd geniuses dominate the red surface with their radioactive robot.
Images of space always make the best wallpapers, and your Mac deserves something better than the default space wallpaper Apple provides in OS X. Here are 10 breathtaking retina wallpaper alternatives that will launch your Mac into space.
I generally don’t favor Apple-themed wallpapers on my Macs or iOS devices, but I just had to make an exception for these meticulously designed, beautifully rendered schematic wallpapers for the iPhone by Ethan Allen Smith. If anything could give you an appreciation of the majestic geometry and elegant ratios that define every visual aspect of iOS, right down to the badges on every icon or where the pips at the bottom of every homescreen are placed, a couple days with these wallpapers will have you thinking hard about them: in iOS, every little line means something.
Smith has provided two wallpapers: one for the standard homescreen and one for the iOS lockscreen. The lockscreen one is nice, but it’s the homescreen wallpaper that really shines.
Magnificent. I hope these get updated for the longer homescreen of the iPhone 5. You can download them at the link below.
Despite their bad rap, sharks really aren’t that mean. They just like to smile a lot. And it looks scary. I mean, sure if you prance around in the ocean looking like a sumptuous seal, or taunt a shark, or punch him, yeah, he might eat you. But that’s rare. Like, really rare.
To celebrate the brutish magnificence of the king of the ocean, we found the 13 best shark wallpapers. Take a look. Download them. And let your iPad or Mac bathe in the glory of nature’s most spectacular beast.

Apple’s new MacBook Pro features a stunning 2880×1800 Retina display that makes any other screen look like pixelated junk. Because the next-gen 2012 MacBook Pro packs so many pixels in an insane resolution on a 15-inch display, it can be difficult to find great wallpapers that are optimized correctly. Luckily, we’ve collected the best resources on the internet to help you find the most beautiful wallpapers possible.
Tried of staring at Apple’s default galaxy wallpaper on your brand new MacBook Pro with Retina display? Need a change of pace on your iPhone and iPad? How about a gorgeous, minimal wallpaper that’s been crafted for each of Apple’s Retina devices?
Instagram designer Tim Van Damme decided to create a multicolor wallpaper design and give it away for everyone to enjoy. “Inspired by the gorgeous screen of the new Retina MacBook Pro, I wanted to design a new wallpaper for all my Retina devices (MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad), and my 27″ Cinema Display.”
I have to say, the 2880×1800 MacBook Pro version is stunning. Head over to Tim’s Dribble account to download each wallpaper. I’m rocking them on all of my devices, and I couldn’t be happier.
Much better than a picture of your motorbike, right?
Fed up of trying to find the perfect wallpaper for your Mac? There are plenty out there that feature supercars you’ll never be able to afford, models you’ll never meet, and sandy beaches you’ll never visit. But for something a little more interesting, check out Satellite Eyes, a wonderful little app that displays a satellite view of your current location as your desktop background.
The downside to buying a new Mac with a 2880 x 1800 display is that it’s not easy to find content that matches such a high resolution. All of your old Charlize Theron wallpapers you found on Google Images are going to look blurry and pixelated and just awful.
Fortunately for you, we’ve put together a gallery of high-resolution NASA images that look terrific on the new MacBook Pro’s Retina display.
We're still digging up new iOS 6 features. Image courtesy of William Gamache ([email protected]).
It’s been a week since Apple released its first iOS 6 beta, and we’re still digging up new features. We reported some improvements to the keyboard this morning, and now we’ve found some enhancements to Spotlight and wallpaper settings.

Wouldn't it be great if you had your own account with your own apps and settings on the family iPad?
One of the features iPad users have been consistently calling for since the device made its debut back in 2010 is multi-user support, which would allow families and small businesses to share one device between a group of people who all have their own account, with their own wallpaper, their own apps, and their own settings.
According to one iOS developer who recently contacted Apple about this feature, the Cupertino company is aware of the issue, and it is currently being “investigated by engineering.”
Sick of all those icons cluttering up your Desktop? Need to give a presentation at work but don’t want your boss seeing all the imgur images you downloaded during the sales meeting? This two dollar app from the Mac App Store may be just what you need to de-clutter and hide all those pesky Desktop icons.
If you’re not using the RSS screensaver on your Mac, we’ll forgive you. This time. With a little terminal code and your favorite RSS feed, however, you can get this bad boy to display behind all your apps and desktop icons, as your desktop wallpaper. Cool, huh?
Apple's default wallpaper not cutting it? Try these wallpapers instead.
You’ve finally got your hands on the new iPad, now you need some beautiful wallpapers. Apple’s newest tablet sports a gigantic 2048×1536 resolution display, so your old iPad wallpapers won’t look as good as they once did. You need higher resolution images for your new baby.
We’ve gathered some gorgeous, free wallpapers that are all optimized for the new iPad’s Retina display. We tried to include different designs and styles for everyone. Check them out and see if one catches your eye!
We’re starting a new series called Wallpaper Weekends. We’ll be bringing you a fresh new wallpaper for your iPhone, iPad and Mac. Here’s what we’ve got this week.
Like most OS X updates before it, with Mountain Lion comes a new default wallpaper. Like Lion, Mountain Lion’s wallpaper keeps with the galaxy theme, but we think this one’s far more beautiful, with a softer blue tone that is quite calming and peaceful to look at. Anyone know which galaxy this is?
