Apple sent out invitations Monday for a press event on September 9. The unveiling of the iPhone 16 series should be the highlight of the “It’s Glowtime” event.
But that’s not all. Get ready for AirPods 4, Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch SE 3 at Apple’s September event.
Apple iPhone 16 event on September 9: ‘It’s Glowtime,’ live and in person
Every autumn, Apple holds an event to reveal its next generation of iPhones. It’s been this way since 2011 and the iPhone 4S. So it’s not hard to guess what’s first on the agenda for the September 9 event. Company executives will be there to unveil the four models in the iPhone 16 series. Plus, rumors indicate we might see new Apple Watch models and AirPods.
Sometimes an Apple invitation drops hints about the upcoming iPhone models. This year’s invite says “It’s Glowtime” with a colorful Apple logo, likely a reference to the redesigned Siri interface that’s part of the upcoming Apple Intelligence. Apple showcased the AI features coming to iPhone, Mac and iPad in June at WWDC24.
Unlike during the pandemic and immediate post-pandemic years, this will be an in-person event at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in California. It will stream live for anyone to see. Everything kicks off at 10 a.m. Pacific on September 9.
Inaccurate rumors previously pointed to a September 10 event, but that’s the day of the first Harris/Trump president debate. It seems Apple doesn’t want its news lost in the political furor.

iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max rumors
When Apple CEO Tim Cook and his cohorts take the stage for the “It’s Glowtime” event, expect them to start off with four new iPhone models.
The most significant iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max design change reportedly will be larger screens. They’ll also get a new camera Capture button. Design changes to the more affordable iPhone 16 and 16 Plus include adding the Action button. All of Apple’s 2024 handsets can be expected to get faster processors, and they might get better battery tech.

iOS 18, macOS Sequoia 15 and more release date revealed
The highlight of the iPhone 16 series is expected to be software, not hardware: Apple Intelligence, the suite of artificial intelligence features unveiled at WWDC24. That said, it’ll take an upgrade to iOS 18.1 in October before these appear. Still, they’ll surely be demoed again during the Apple September event.
Expect the new handsets to launch with iOS 18, and Apple to reveal on September 9 when current iPhone models can upgrade to this version. That will likely happen a week or so after the event.
The same goes for iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, tvOS 18 and visionOS 2. Plus, Apple is rumored to break its habit and introduce macOS Sequoia 15 in September rather than making Mac users wait until October.
Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch SE 3
Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event on September 9 won’t wrap up when the iPhone 16 presentation does. We should see new wearables as well.
Rumors indicate Apple Watch Series 10 will include a larger display: up to 2 inches. And the bezels around the screen will be smaller. However, leaks also indicate the size change is the only significant shift in the Apple Watch Series 10 design.
A new Apple Watch SE 3 is also reportedly on the event agenda. This might come in a range of colorful plastic casings, possibly lowering the already low price.
We might see AirPods 4 at Apple’s ‘It’s Glowtime’ event on September 9
But wait, there’s more. The Apple September event is expected to continue with AirPods 4. And not one version of the wireless earbuds but two: a new, somewhat higher-end model will include Active Noise Cancellation.
How Apple intends to differentiate these midrange models from AirPods Pro should be part of the presentation. Rumors indicate AirPods Pro 3 will arrive in 2025.
New iPhone 16 models, Apple Watch models and AirPods — that should keep Tim Cook and company talking for more than an hour during the September 9 event.
