When you think of psychological thrillers, the first two people you picture probably aren’t Billy Crystal and Rosie Perez. But apparently they don’t just do funny — they do tense and scary, too. Apple TV+ gave a first look at the stars in upcoming thriller Beyond on Wednesday.
The new 10-episode series starring Crystal and Perez arrives on Apple TV+ on October 25.
Psycho-thriller series Before, with Billy Crystal and Rosie Perez, debuts October 25 on Apple TV+
When Apple TV+ offers a “first look” at a movie or TV show, it serves up one or more photographs just to give viewers a glimpse of what’s to come. For Before, starring and executive produced by Crystal, it gave us four images, which you can see above and below. It calls the series “an atmospheric, character-driven psychological thriller.” The photos show a bit of that.

Here’s how the streamer describes the new series and its cast:
Before stars Crystal as Eli, a child psychiatrist who, after recently losing his wife, Lynn (Judith Light), encounters a troubled young boy, Noah (Jupe), who seems to have a haunting connection to Eli’s past. As Eli attempts to help Noah, their mysterious bond deepens.
Alongside Crystal, the supernatural mystery series stars multi-Emmy and Tony Award winner Light, Jacobi Jupe (Peter Pan & Wendy), Academy Award nominee Perez (The Flight Attendant), Tony Award nominee Maria Dizzia (Orange Is the New Black) and Ava Lalezarzadeh (In the Garden of Tulips).

And as far as leadership goes, the show looks to have a pretty good pedigree. Crystal, Academy Award winner Eric Roth (Killers of the Flower Moon, Dune) and creator Sarah Thorp (The Bounty Hunter) executive produce the series, which comes from Paramount Television Studios. Thorp also serves as show runner and writer. Other executive producers are Adam Bernstein (Silo, Billions), who directed the pilot, and producing director Jet Wilkinson (The Chi, Truth Be Told).
