How to cancel the Apple TV+ free trial before you have to pay up

The one-year free trial of Apple TV+ comes to an end later this month, which means you will be charged soon to keep your subscription going. If you don’t want to use Apple TV+ going forward, you need to cancel it.

We’ll show you how.

How to cancel Apple TV+

When Apple TV+ made its big debut in 2019, Apple offered a one-year trial to those who bought a new iPhone, iPad or Mac. It then extended the free trial twice, first to January 2021 and then to the end of June.

You will be automatically charged a $4.99 monthly fee for Apple TV+ this July if you’re still on that trial and want to keep using the service. If you don’t, you need to cancel it yourself. Here’s how.

Cancel Apple TV+ on iPhone or iPad

These are the steps to follow on iPhone and iPad:

1. Open the App Store.
2. Tap the avatar in the top-right corner, then tap Subscriptions.
3. Find and select Apple TV+.
4. Tap Cancel Free Trial.
5. Tap Confirm.

Or cancel on your Mac

These are the steps to follow on Mac:

1. Open the App Store.
2. Click your name in the bottom-left corner of the app.
3. Click View Information and then sign into your Apple account.
4. Scroll down to find Subscriptions, then click Manage.
5. Find Apple TV+ and then click Edit.
6. Click the Cancel Subscription button.
7. Click Confirm.

Or cancel Apple TV+ online

If for some reason you don’t have access to an Apple device, you can cancel your Apple TV+ subscription online.

1. Go to tv.apple.com in any web browser.
2. Select the account icon at the top of the page. (If you don’t see the icon, hit Sign in and then sign in with your Apple ID.)
3. Choose Settings.
4. Scroll down to Subscriptions, then choose Manage.
5. Select Cancel Subscription.

How to resubscribe to Apple TV+

If you completed one of the methods above, your Apple TV+ subscription is now canceled. You can continue to use the service until your trial expires on June 30.

After that, if you find yourself feeling left out — like when the new seasons of See and The Morning Show arrive later this year — you can always resubscribe to Apple TV+. To do so, simply attempt to watch an Apple TV+ show, then follow the onscreen instructions.
