The new Glorious GMMK 3 keyboard is “1 billion keyboards in 1” because it supposedly packs more than a billion possible hardware configurations, giving gamers and typists alike “unparalleled” control over aesthetics, typing experience and performance, Glorious Gaming said Tuesday.

With the release, Glorious Gaming said it “believes that gamers are the heroes of their own stories, and that they should have greater control over their peripherals.” And so it offered the ultra-customizable GMMK 3, which gamers (or plain ol’ typists) can tweak in every possible way “to match their gaming journey and needs.”
After all, the company’s own study recently found that more than 85% of gamers say that keyboard customization is important. Furthermore, over 50% of gamers switch out their keycaps. But Glorious aims to go way beyond interchangeable keycaps, the company said.

Glorious ticked off various customization scenarios regarding look, sound, typing experience and performance:

- Users can easily swap out top frame, bottom frame, rotary knob, badge, USB cable, keycaps and switch plate.
- Users can choose from a range of switches, switch plates and gaskets to find their perfect sound and feel, whether they want soft and cushioned, loud and clacky or deep and thocky.
- There are 14 switch options launching alongside GMMK 3 to choose from in Linear, Tactile, Clicky and Silent varieties, all of which are available in both HE (Hall effect) and mechanical flavors.
- The swappable switch plates and Gasket Module System in GMMK 3, give users the ability to fine tune their typing experience for both sound and feel, with a range of switch plate materials (plexi, FR4, aluminium, brass) and module materials (firm silicone, soft silicone/Poron polyurethane).

And regarding performance, gamers and typists can choose mechanical switches or — for the first time in a Glorious GMMK keyboard — Hall effect magnetic switches, which are rising in popularity lately versus mechanical ones. Hall effect switches are durable because they use a magnetic field to register keystrokes instead of physical contact, so they don’t wear down.
GMMK 3 HE boards paired with Hall effect magnetic switches offer support for Rapid Trigger, Adjustable Actuation points and 4:1 Dynamic Keystrokes, Glorious said.
All GMMK 3 HE boards work with both 3- and 5-pin mechanical switches. And they’re also compatible with all HE switches launching alongside GMMK 3, including Glorious’ Panda tactile, Fox linear and Raptor clicky switches available for the first time in HE versions.
