Apple is now accepting preorders for the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The devices reach stores starting September 20, the same day preorders begin arriving.
In typical Apple fashion, the company took down its online store for about six hours before accepting preorders.
Apple Watch Series 10 can also be preordered, though Apple initially began taking those on Monday, September 9. The same goes for AirPods 4.
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro get Camera Control, support Apple Intelligence
Apple’s newest iPhones pack some big internal upgrades. The regular iPhone 16 sports an A18 chip, while the Pro model gets an even faster A18 SoC. The latter even ships with a bigger 6.3-inch display, with the Pro Max packing a massive 6.9-inch screen. Thanks to thinner bezels, though, the phones have not seen a proportionate increase in size.
All iPhone 16 models ship with Camera Control, a new capacitive force-sensitive button located on the same side as the Side key. You can use it to launch the Camera app quickly. In the app itself, a tap will take a picture, while a click and hold will start recording a video. The sapphire crystal button can also detect swipes, allowing you to control the camera’s zoom, exposure, and other aspects.

AI is a big highlight of this year’s iPhones. They support Apple Intelligence, with the A18 SoC optimized for faster on-device processing. Battery life is also improved on the new devices, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max offering the longest battery life on any iPhone ever.
Despite all the improvements, Apple kept the prices of the iPhone 16 unchanged from those of its predecessors. Here are the U.S. base prices.
