Apple showcased iOS 18, iPadOS 18, watchOS 11 and macOS Sequoia on Monday during the kickoff keynote that kicked off its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. With so many new features and improvements, you might wonder if your iOS 18 will be among Apple’s supported devices. Same goes for other older devices and Apple’s other upcoming operating system updates.
Below is a list of all the iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches and Macs that will get the iOS 18, iPadOS 18, watchOS 11 and macOS Sequoia update later this year. Note: The AI-powered Apple Intelligence features the company unveiled at WWDC24 won’t work on many older devices. So even if your computer can run the latest operating system, you still might not benefit from the AI stuff.
Supported devices: iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia and Apple Watch 11
Every year, new versions of Apple’s operating systems bring new features, many of which tax the hardware of older devices. To make sure things work properly (and spur upgrades, of course) Apple removes support for iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watches that aren’t up to the demands of the upgraded platforms. This year is no different, although the list of iOS 18 supported devices is surprisingly robust.
These iPhones will support iOS 18
In 2023, Apple dropped support for the 2017 iPhone X and iPhone 8 series with iOS 17. This year, despite iOS 18 packing several new customization options, the OS works with the same set of devices as before.
So, you can enjoy iOS 18 later this year on the following supported devices:
- iPhone Xs and XS Max
- iPhone Xr
- iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max
- iPhone 11
- iPhone SE (2020)
- iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max
- iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max
- iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini
- iPhone SE (2022)
- iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus
- iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max
- iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus
- iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
iOS 18 will support a surprising array of devices. However, Apple Intelligence in iOS 18 will only come to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, supposedly due to the processing power the features will demand.
iPadOS 18 is coming to these iPads
Unlike iOS 18, Apple is dropping support for some old iPads with iPadOS 18. The latest iPadOS release is incompatible with three iPads: the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the sixth-gen iPad. The two iPad Pro models use the A10X Fusion SoC, while the sixth-gen iPad uses the A10 chip.
iPadOS 18 will land on the following iPads:
- iPad mini 5 and mini 6
- iPad Air 3 or newer
- iPad (7th generation or later)
- iPad Pro (Third-generation/A12X Bionic and later models)
All Apple Intelligence features in iPadOS 18 will only arrive on M1 or newer iPads.
watchOS 11 will work with these Apple Watch models

Surprisingly, Apple is dropping support for several older Apple Watch models with watchOS 11. The Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5 and the first-gen Watch SE won’t get the upcoming watchOS 11 release. Instead, the OS will only work with the following Apple Watch models:
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Apple Watch Series 7
- Apple Watch SE (2nd gen)
- Apple Watch Series 8
- Apple Watch Series 9
- Apple Watch Ultra
- Apple Watch Ultra 2
If you are still using an Apple Watch Series 4 or original SE, consider upgrading to a newer model by September if you want to try out all the new watchOS 11 features.
macOS Sequoia-compatible Macs
macOS Sequoia will work with all Intel-based Macs featuring a T2 chip along with machines using an M1 chip or newer. Notably, the OS drops support for all Intel-based MacBook Air models.

- MacBook Air (2020 or later)
- MacBook Pro (2018 or later)
- Mac mini (2018 or later)
- Mac Studio (2022 and later)
Like the iPad, you must own an M1 Mac or newer to enjoy Apple Intelligence access in macOS Sequoia.
