Imagine putting your iPad onto a stand and it immediately begins charging, without needing to plug it in. That’s possible with the Lululook 360 Rotating Foldable Magnetic iPad Charging Stand.

It’s very flexible, doesn’t take up the tablet’s USB-C port, and works with a variety iPad Pro and iPad Air models, including the ones released in 2024.

I love this accessory. Absolutely love it. Here’s why.

Lululook 360 Rotating Foldable Magnetic iPad Charging Stand review

My 13-inch iPad Pro does everything I need for my job and my personal life. It’s my primary computer. When I’m working on it at my desk all day, I don’t keep it in a keyboard case — that’s too constricted. I put the tablet on a stand, type on an external keyboard and use a mouse.

I’m saved the hassle of needing to plug a power cable into the iPad with Lululook’s charging stand. I just connect the tablet to the stand and it starts getting power.

As a bonus, this leaves the iPad’s single USB-C port open for other accessories. I can plug an external drive in while the computer continues to charge.

And don’t think of this accessory as solely being a productivity tool. It’s a great way to turn an iPad into a TV you can lean back and watch. As a bonus, the computer is getting power the whole time you’re bingewatching Silo or Severance.

Lululook crammed most of the features of the product into the name: 360 Rotating Foldable Magnetic iPad Charging Stand.

The accessory consists of a 5.6-inch round plate that sits on your desk, a 7-inch arm, and a plate that magnetically attaches to the back of your iPad. The three components are attached with hinges for flexibility.

Virtually the entire exterior is aluminum, and the dark gray paint gives it a professional vibe. It looks great on my desk.

The bottom plate has bearings so I can grab the edge of the iPad and point it where I like — that’s the “360 Rotating” in the name. Or maybe it’s there because I can rotate the screen from landscape to portrait.

The hinges between the components account for the “Foldable” in the name. The stand folds fairly flat so it fits easily in a drawer. But the hinges are firm — don’t be concerned the stand will slowly collapse under the weight of the tablet, or that the device will shake when you tap on the touchscreen. Doesn’t happen.

Place your iPad next to the top plate and the two will snap together. That’s why “Magnetic” is in the name. The connection is solid so the tablet is held on tightly. Removing it takes two hands.

The downside of a magnetic connection is that it’s device specific. My review unit is for the 13-inch iPad Pro released in 2024, and it fits only that one model. But that’s really unavoidable considering the charging system requires an exact fit. Speaking of which…

Convenient charging

Apple has so far resisted building wireless charging into the iPad line. But Lululook’s stand gives the same effect via a workaround built into the tablets for the Apple Magic Keyboard: the Smart Connector. This is three little metal dots on the back of the computer which come into contact with three pins on the stand, allowing power to flow.

While this isn’t truly wireless charging, the result is the same. Simply place your iPad on the stand and it’s getting recharged.

You do need power flowing through a USB-C cable, but it’s plugged into the stand, not the computer. There’s a port for it on the back of the top plate.

That leaves my iPad’s sole USB-C port open — my favorite feature of the Lululook 360 Rotating Foldable Magnetic iPad Charging Stand. As I said, the tablet is my primary computer and I regularly plug in accessories. Not having to deal with a multiport dock when all I need is power and one peripheral is very convenient.

But as agreeable as this is, there’s a drawback to Lululook’s product: charging tops out at 17W to 18W. If I plug the same cable into the iPad, the maximum jumps to 35W.

Before you overreact, consider that once the iPad battery level gets to be around 70% and above, maximum charging drops to about 18W to 20W. And the wattage gets even lower as the tablet approaches 100% charge. In short, much of the time, the stand is charging the computer about as quickly as possible. Just not all of the time.

During my testing, I never found the comparatively (and occasionally) slow charging inconvenient. And if I ever need a fast charge, I always have the option to move the charging cable to the iPad’s USB-C port.

As someone who regularly uses their iPad as a desktop, I love this stand. I can fully appreciate the convenience of not having to plug a USB-C cable into my computer every time, and then unplug every time.

And don’t overlook the entertainment potential. Your iPad can be your TV or game console with this wireless charging stand.

★★★★

I have to admit, it could charge the tablet more quickly, though. Apple Magic keyboard can send almost double the wattage through the Smart Connector.

Pricing

The list price for the Lululook 360 Rotating Foldable Magnetic iPad Charging Stand is $199. But it’s currently available at 35% off, lowering the cost to $129.99.
