Apple’s newest M4-equipped Macs — iMac, MacBook Pro and the redesigned Mac mini — reached store shelves Friday. Customers who placed preorders for delivery should receive their new computers today, too.

Apple announced its new Macs in the last week of October through press releases.

The M4 iMac is a modest refresh over its M3 predecessor. The chip is the biggest upgrade, with the new Apple silicon SoC packing a notably faster Neural Engine. The M4 iMac also ships with 16GB of unified memory on the base variant, a big step up from the 8GB on the previous model. The other major upgrade is a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View support and 1080p HD recording.

You can go through our M4 vs. M3 iMac comparison to learn more about all the differences.

Pricing for the M4 iMac starts at $1,299.

Apple’s newest Mac mini sports a brand-new design—its first in 14 years! The machine is now smaller than ever, measuring 5 x 5 inches. Despite this, the Mac mini is faster than ever, all thanks to Apple’s M4 chip. You can also configure it with an M4 Pro SoC featuring a 14-core CPU and 20-core CPU for unrivaled performance in this form factor.

As part of the redesign, Apple has done away with all USB-A ports. Instead, the M4 Mac mini packs five USB-C ports, two on the front and three on the back. On M4 Pro models, the rear ports support Thunderbolt 5, providing twice the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 4. Like the M4 iMac, the base M4 Mac mini ships with 16GB of unified memory as standard.

The starting price remains unchanged at $599, making this one of Apple’s most value-oriented Macs.

Apple’s M4 MacBook Pros deliver big performance and battery life gains. There are no design changes except that the base M4 model now ships with an additional USB-C port and comes in space black. Like other Macs, the 2024 MacBook Pros use Apple’s latest 3nm fabricated M4 and M4 Pro chips. You can also configure the machine with an M4 Max chip for more demanding workloads.

Apple claims a 3x performance boost over the M1 Pro-powered models in most workloads. The Neural Engine can process AI workloads over 3x faster than the M1 Max chip.

Despite the faster performance, the new M4 MacBook Pros also last longer, delivering up to 24 hours of battery life.

Pricing for the M4 MacBook Pro remains unchanged, starting at $1,599. The 14-inch M4 Pro MacBook Pro starts at $1,999, while the 16-inch model costs $2,499.
