Mageasy Lift Standing & Folding Folio iPad Case folds into a stand that raises your tablet screen up closer to eye level. It’s a trick that really helps it stand out from the competition (see what I did there?).

It can also be folded into other shapes to provide a range of viewing angles. And when on the go, the case wraps completely around the iPad to protect it.

I tested the Lift with my 2024 iPad Pro.

Mageasy Lift Standing & Folding Folio iPad Case review

My iPad is a productivity tool. When I’m working outside the office, I need a case that’s also a stand. A good one — not just any case will do.

Stands that provide a range of just options get bonus points. Mageasy Lift earns some of the points because it can hold my tablet at multiple angles … and also different heights. And it protects the iPad and Apple Pencil when I’m not working.

There are versions for the four iPad Pro and iPad Air variants introduced in 2024.

At the heart of the Mageasy Lift Standing & Folding Folio iPad Case is a plastic tray that covers the back and all four corners of the computer. Clip the tablet in and it stays secure.

There are openings in the tray for the buttons and ports of course, and the cameras, too.

A large front flap protects the iPad screen, then gets flipped around back when it’s time to use the tablet. It also becomes a stand — more on that in a bit.

In addition, there’s a small flap that keeps the case closed. This can also wrap around an Apple Pencil while it’s on its charger. You won’t lose the stylus and it’ll keep charging while you’re on the move.

I carried the Mageasy Lift around for days. The inner tray holds the iPad securely, and adds an extra layer of protection. But it and the outer flap combine to add noticeable weight. I’m testing the version for the 13-inch iPad Pro, and the case weighs in at 1.1 pounds. The tablet itself is 1.3 pounds, so the case is almost as heavy as the computer.

That said, extra bulk is always required to add extra protection to an expensive iPad. But it’s something to be aware of.

Overall, the case is well-made, and seems ready to stand the test of time. The look is very plasticky, though. You have you choice of black, blue or white.

Multipurpose iPad stand, too

If it’s not obvious from the name, the Mageasy Lift Standing & Folding Folio iPad Case is also a stand.

And I’ve already mentioned its standout trick: fold the front flap correctly and it can hold the tablet up closer to eye level. In my tests, the bottom edge of the iPad screen is about 4.5 inches above the desk the case/stand is sitting on. That not only makes the display easier to see, it means less strain on my neck.

As much as I like it — and I really do — this arrangement isn’t ideal for typing directly on the touchscreen. The iPad shakes a bit when I tap the screen, and reaching up that far gets uncomfortable. So I used the Logitech Keys-to-Go 2 to type and connected a simple Bluetooth mouse.

This is also a very useful configuration for the Mageasy Lift.

The Mageasy Lift offers other stand configurations that are completely steady because they’re not so tall. The front flap can fold into a simple kickstand that props up the device so it leans back 35 degrees. This is a nice angle for many uses, including typing on the touchscreen.

In another arrangement, part of the front flap becomes a base and you can angle the screen from nearly straight up to leaning backward about 25 degrees.

The fourth option for the case/stand is as a support when drawing or writing on the iPad. The screen is leaning back at 60 degrees (or 30 degrees up off the table), which I find comfortable for sketching.

If you like the idea of a protective case/stand that can hold your iPad up near your eye level while you work in a coffeeshop, then this Mageasy case is ideal for you. And it has other useful configurations, too.

★★★★

It’s not the best-looking tablet case I’ve ever tested, though. Nor the lightest.

Pricing

The variant of the Mageasy Lift Standing & Folding Folio iPad Case for the 13-inch iPad Pro costs $54.99. The other three — for the smaller iPad Pro plus the new iPad versions — sell for $49.99.

A similar but lighter case/stand for Apple’s latest tablets is the Pitaka MagEZ Folio 2, which I also reviewed.
