Upcoming Apple TV+ docuseries Omnivore looks like a visually stunning deep dive into key ingredients that feed the world. The globe-hopping trailer takes us on a whirlwind tour of farmland, fisheries and more. It’s a tasty tease for a show that delivers an international perspective on humanity’s common denominator: food.
Each episode of the show, which arrives July 19 on Apple TV+, focuses on a single ingredient — salt, pork, bananas, etc. — and explores the long path it takes to wind up on hungry diners’ plates.
Omnivore: Latest in a long line of tasty Apple TV+ docs

The first Omnivore trailer, released Wednesday, sets the table to continue that tradition. It shows some pretty epic scenes from around the world, from salt fields in Peru to prize pigs roaming the streets in a Spanish town.
“Each episode of Omnivore celebrates the cultivation, transformation and consumption of eight of the world’s most essential ingredients, including banana, chile, coffee, corn, pork, rice, salt and tuna, revealing how they serve as the cornerstones of global cultural heritage,” Apple TV+ said in a press release.
Starring celebrity chef René Redzepi
The show stars celebrity Danish chef René Redzepi, owner of Copenhagen’s Noma restaurant. His place has been named best in the world multiple times. The eight-episode docuseries is a globetrotting affair that tells the story of the world’s staple foods.
“The series takes viewers to destinations around the world, including Bali, Colombia, Denmark, Djibouti, France, India, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Spain and Thailand, as well as locations throughout the United States,” Apple said. “In each episode, Redzepi and the series contributors offer an intimate exploration of culinary traditions, showcasing local efforts to honor, conserve and protect the Earth’s offerings. Each episode is helmed by a different director to guide the ingredient’s journey.”
If you like to eat, and want to know how the world’s most important ingredients wind up on your table, this sounds like a food documentary you don’t want to miss.
