Rode Wireless Go III, the new generation of the popular mobile microphone system for content creators the company unveiled Tuesday, introduces upgrades like an expanded recording range, 32-bit onboard recording and, for the first time, a palette of vibrant color options to the $300 system. Black may go with everything, but now you have a choice of 14 colors, the company said.

Rode's popular Wireless Go microphone system is now upgraded with expanded range, robust onboard recording and a choice of 14 vibrant colors.

Pros:
  • 14 fun colors to choose from
  • Expanded recording range
  • 32-bit onboard recording
Cons:
  • Limited upgrades
  • Some setting tweaks via computer only

Building on the success of its predecessors, the new Rode Wireless Go III dual-channel wireless microphone system boasts an impressive operating range of 853 feet (260 meters), marking a substantial 197-foot (60m) improvement over the previous generation. This enhanced range ensures creators can capture professional-quality audio with greater flexibility in their shooting locations, the company said.

The system’s technical capabilities have been significantly enhanced with the integration of 32-bit float on-board recording, providing over 40 hours of recording capacity. This feature, combined with Rode’s intelligent GainAssist technology, offers creators lots of control over their audio quality and the ability to recover clipped or quiet audio files — a crucial feature for professional content production. And of course the Rode app you use to tweak Rode Wireless Go works on macOS, iOS, Windows and Android.

Security, stability and a new profusion of colors

Security and stability remain central to Go 3’s design. The system uses Rode’s Series IV 2.4 GHz digital transmission technology with 128-bit encryption, ensuring crystal-clear and stable audio transmission. New locking lavalier connectors add an extra layer of security, addressing a common concern among professional users.

In a departure from traditional design aesthetics, Rode introduced an expansive color palette for Go 3. Beyond the classic black and white options, creators can now choose from 12 additional colors, including red, orange, green, purple, pink, blue, cobalt, clay, lilac, stone, rose and moss. This variety allows content creators to match their equipment to their brand aesthetic or personal style preferences. For example, you might want to match the attachable mic to your shirt’s color.

The system’s versatility is evident in its universal compatibility with cameras, smartphones and computers. It integrates with Rode’s broader ecosystem of Series IV devices, including the RodeCaster Pro II, Duo, RodeCaster Video, Wireless PRO and Interview PRO.

The case also helps with simultaneous data access for transferring recordings, adjusting settings and updating firmware.

The comprehensive package includes one receiver, two transmitters, essential cables (TRS to TRS, USB-C to Lightning, and USB-C to USB-C), a charging hub with three USB-C connectors, three furry windshields and a soft carry pouch.
