Ultimate Ears’ new Miniroll is the smallest and most affordable entry in the company’s Bluetooth speaker lineup. The tiny new speaker with a “river rock-inspired design” isn’t quiet for its size, the Logitech-owned company said. But for more sound over a larger area, it easily connects to others. And it features a hook-able silicone strap to easily connect to almost anything and go where you go.

“Miniroll started with a consumer ask,” said Jonah Staw, general manager of Ultimate Ears. “We heard our fans loud and clear. They wanted a speaker that could strap in and go anywhere to keep up with their active lifestyles. This led our design and engineering teams to build our most portable speaker, showing how passionate consumers can drive innovation.”

Ultimate Ears said the new Miniroll recalls the first UE Roll. That speaker launched in 2015 and quickly became a fan favorite before discontinuation in 2019. The new Miniroll is smaller, designed to nestle comfortably in your hands. And it incorporates an updated strap.

Weighing just under 10 ounces (279 grams), the speaker’s flat design helps make it ultralight and portable. Moreover, with an IP67 rating, it’s waterproof and dustproof.

Equipped with a custom driver, bass radiators and extensive EQ tuning for optimal sound outdoors, Miniroll delivers powerful, high-fidelity sound, UE said.

In addition, the speaker’s Auracast technology allows an unlimited number of Miniroll speakers to pair, creating a potentially epic sound experience. That’s when the little speaker goes from personal and small-group audio to party time.

But UE also noted the speaker’s small size does not compromise sound or playtime. It boasts 40-meter Bluetooth range, up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge and a USB-C port for quick charging.

Designed for sustainability

Miniroll is made of 100% post-consumer recycled polyester fabric and a minimum of 40% post-consumer recycled plastic parts, giving a second life to end-of-use plastic from consumer electronics, UE noted. The speaker’s paper packaging comes from FSC-certified forests and other controlled sources.

Pricing and availability

You can order UE’s Miniroll for $79.99 on www.ultimateears.com, www.logitech.com or Amazon in black, blue, gray and pink colors now. It should come out at other retailers soon.
