Targus and Macally unveiled iPad folio cases with built-in keyboards and trackpads. Although the designs vary, all can turn an Apple tablet into a slim notebook computer.

Apple makes its own iPad keyboard case, but these new third-party options cost considerably less.

Targus VersaVu Bluetooth Keyboard Case

Targus reentered the popular keyboard case category with a VersaVu Bluetooth Keyboard Case with variants for a range of iPad models.

This stands out from pack by allowing the user to switch the tablet between portrait and landscape orientation — most keyboard cases support only landscape mode. The new case also has an adjustable kickstand and a backlit keyboard. Plus, it can protect the iPad in drops of up to four feet.

“Our new VersaVu Bluetooth Keyboard Cases are made to amp up productivity,” promised David Dorantes, Director of Product Marketing, Targus.

A variant for the 11-inch iPad Air (M2), iPad (10th gen), iPad Air (5th and 4th gen) and 11-inch iPad Pro (4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st gen) can be purchased now. It costs $99.99.

The Macally iPad Case with Keyboard adds a keyboard, multi-touch trackpad and adjustable kickstand to the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air tablets. The keyboard is detachable to save on weight, and its keys are backlit. A wraparound design protects the iPad from bumps and scratches.

“The iPad Case with Keyboard enhances productivity and flexibility,” said Joey Ang, General Manager at Macally. “It’s the smart solution for work, play, and everything in between.”

The accessory hit the market this week. Variants for the 11-inch iPad Pro (M4) and iPad Air (M2) cost $129.99, while variants for the 13-inch iPad Pro (M4) and iPad Air (M2) cost $159.99.

That said, Tagus took 20% off the price as a launch special. Use coupon code CHEER20 on Macally’s website, or check the Coupon box on Amazon.
