You’re in the gym sticking with your New Year’s resolution, and want to connect your AirPods to your treadmill’s TV to make running less of a drudge. AirFly is exactly what you need. Plug the gizmo into any audio port to connect it to your wireless headphones.

And you can pick up the Twelve South AirFly SE at 14% off thanks to a deal available from multiple retailers.

Make AirPods almost universal

AirPods connect seamlessly to iPhones and other Apple computers, or the wireless earbuds can be easily used with Androids, Windows PCs or other devices with Bluetooth. Unfortunately, not every TV and music player has Bluetooth.

But it’s AirFly to the rescue. Plug its 3.5mm jack into devices that lack wireless connectivity, and your AirPods are ready to go.

The original intended use was with the entertainment systems built into the back of seats on airlines — hence the name. And the gadget still works quite well for that, but it is equally useful for hearing the audio from TVs built into gym equipment.

There are a variety of models. I’ve used and loved my AirFly Pro for years, but even the basic SE model includes the core features. And for less money.

Twelve South’s AirFly SE ordinarily sells for $34.99, but both Amazon and Best Buy knocked 14% off that cost.

It’s worth the money if it’ll make your gym visits better, or improve a long boring flight to a business meeting.

The AirFly is a must-have gadget for traveling. Not only will it connect your AirPods to airplane inflight entertainment systems, it can be used with gym equipment, hotel TVs, gaming consoles and a lot more -- and it works with AirPods or any Bluetooth headphones.

Pros:
  • Use with any 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Connects to car stereos, gym equipment, airline entertainment systems
Cons:
  • Shortish range

If you like the idea but want more features, try the AirFly Pro. It adds the ability to pair with two sets of Bluetooth headphones at once, so you and your spouse/etc. can watch the same movie on an airline entertainment system. It also has a slightly longer battery life.

Beyond that, AirFly Pro can connect your iPhone to a car stereo’s AUX port to play music off your iPhone. Read my review for more details.
