Like the rumored smart home hub, the refreshed Apple Watch SE might not launch as soon as initially expected. A new report claims the Apple Watch SE will only debut in the second half of the year.
Apple will supposedly give its cheapest smartwatch a big redesign this year, launching it with a new look.
The current-gen Apple Watch SE debuted in September 2022, featuring upgraded internals and a lower price tag. But the wearable’s S8 SiP is now showing its age. The design also looks dated now.
Apple aims to address these shortcomings with the upcoming refresh of the Apple Watch SE. Previous reports suggest it could sport a colorful design, making it kid-friendly.
Apple will apparently also use 3D printing and make the third-gen Apple Watch SE’s chassis out of plastic to reduce costs. Hopefully, the company will pass these savings on to customers so that the 2025 Apple Watch SE will carry a lower starting price.
Initial rumors suggested the Apple Watch SE (3rd gen) would launch in September 2024, but that did not happen. Rumors then moved the release timeline to spring 2025, with the budget Apple Watch launching alongside the new iPhone SE. However, even this will not happen, claims Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter.
The company seemingly plans to launch the new Apple Watch SE in September 2025.
Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3 to have minor upgrades
Apple will supposedly not introduce any major design changes to the Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3. But they will launch with new features, with the Ultra 3 rumored to gain satellite connectivity support.
Gurman also claims that Apple might bring high blood pressure monitoring to the two smartwatches.
More importantly, the company is working on revamping the Health app, though it’s unclear whether it will arrive with iOS 19 this year.
