The espresso 15 Pro checks all the boxes for Apple users looking for a high-end portable monitor. 4K? Check. Touchscreen? Check. USB-C? Check.

The 15-inch screen — a smaller version of the espresso 17 Pro — is on display at CES 2025. It even scored espresso Displays a CES Innovation Award.

Studies show that adding an external monitor to a MacBook or iPad improves productivity. espresso Displays offers a line of these, and is growing its selection with a new high-end model.

“espresso 15 Pro is designed for business travelers, professionals on the go, and people seeking a high-performance tool to help them achieve their best wherever they need to work,” said espresso Displays CEO and cofounder, Will Scuderi.

The 4K LCD surpasses the majority of portable screens, as they offer a 1080p resolution. And its backlight also goes up to 550 nits — much brighter than many rivals.

espresso 15 Pro’s touchscreen works with macOS and Windows, and can be used with the espresso Pen for note-taking, sketching, etc. Or it can be used as a regular monitor with iPads, iPhones and Samsung Galaxy devices running DeX.

Power and data flow over a single USB-C connection, making attaching the screen simple.

The LCD is housed in a matte-black aluminum chassis, not the usual plastic. “espresso 15 Pro is built to give people the best in terms of premium design with glass and aluminum,” said Scuderi.

Innovative Stand+ is included

espresso Displays introduced a 15-inch non-touchscreen version in November. A highlight is Stand+, a foldable magnetic stand that holds the screen upright next to a laptop, but also stretches to place the portable screen above the computer’s own display.

The enhanced espresso 15 Pro will also ship with Stand+. And it’s quite possible this accessory is what made the product a CES Innovation Award Honoree.

espresso Displays announced its next portable monitor now because CES 2025 is going on this week in Las Vegas, not because the screen is ready to ship. The company isn’t yet ready to even reveal a price, and will only say the launch is “in the coming months.”

In the meantime, don’t miss the Cult of Mac review of the espresso 17 Pro.
