Apple TV+ will open its doors to all for an unprecedented free streaming weekend, January 3-5, 2025. That gives everyone unlimited access to its entire catalog of original content. In other words, the streaming service — which normally costs $9.99 monthly — will make its full library of over 250 original TV shows and movies available without requiring a subscription.
Apple TV+ content is free to all weekend of January 3 – 5, 2025
To watch Apple TV+ for free January 3-5, viewers simply need to open the Apple TV app on any supported platform during the two-day window. And they need an Apple ID.
The promotion comes as Apple TV+ looks to expand its audience reach. While the platform hosts critically acclaimed content, its shows have made only occasional appearances on Nielsen’s U.S. streaming charts over the past year, particularly following the conclusion of its hit series Ted Lasso in 2023 (now extended with an upcoming new season).
The timing of this free access period appears strategic, as Apple TV+ prepares to launch several high-profile releases in early 2025. They include the highly anticipated second season of Severance. Current notable offerings include the second season of Bad Sisters, Billy Crystal’s horror thriller Before, and new films Blitz and Fly Me to the Moon. And the sci-fi series Silo is mid-way through its second season.
This promotion marks a departure from Apple’s usual marketing approach. It typically limits free trials for new subscribers and offers select pilot episodes at no cost. The service, which can be shared among six family members through Family Sharing, is also available as part of Apple One subscription bundles starting at $19.95 monthly.

So go ahead and get free access to Apple TV+ next weekend. Normally, the service is available by subscription for $9.99 with a seven-day free trial. You can also get it via any tier of the Apple One subscription bundle. For a limited time, customers who purchase and activate a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac or iPod touch can enjoy three months of Apple TV+ for free.
After launching in November 2019, “Apple TV+ became the first all-original streaming service to launch around the world, and has premiered more original hits and received more award recognitions faster than any other streaming service. To date, Apple Original films, documentaries and series have been honored with 471 wins and 2,090 award nominations and counting,” the service said.
In addition to award-winning movies and TV shows (including breakout soccer comedy Ted Lasso), Apple TV+ offers documentaries, dramas, comedies, kids shows and more.
